Mary-Ann leads our Intellectual Property section of this team, as well as working with other team members in the specialised area of Defence Industry Services.
Mary-Ann's principal focus is on intellectual property and related defence contracting advisory services, including formulating IPR protection, management and commercialisation strategies for clients, drafting and negotiating agreements dealing with IPR issues and providing associated legal counsel services to Defence sector clients, both at the Prime and SME level.
Mary-Ann is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria, the Australian Industry Defence Network (AIDN) and various other professional associations as well as serving in a voluntary capacity on the Boards of several education, community and other not-for-profit organisations, including several years on the AIDN-VIC Executive.
Rod is an accredited business law specialist with 12 years experience as a commercial lawyer. Rod provides sound client focussed legal services to a variety of commercial clients including ASX listed companies, Australian subsidiaries of international companies and small to medium sized Australian businesses.
Rod's practice involves preparing or reviewing and advising on a variety of contracts including IP commercialisation agreements, distribution agreements and commercial leases.
From 1980 to 2010 Malcolm led this team utilising his extensive experience in Australia and globally across all specialised areas of Defence Industry Services. Malcolm has project experience in most major markets of the world.
Although he is no longer practicing as a lawyer he will be pleased to ensure that clients and referrals are seamlessly transitioned to one of the other members of the White Cleland team. Malcolm is a non-practitioner Director of the firm and has an ongoing role in practice administration and external directorships, including of our associated C&I Projects Pty Ltd.
Malcolm's principal focus is now on major defence bids and the responses needed to win programs. His role with C&I Projects often involves formulating industry participation and offset plans for clients, negotiating contractual arrangements with Governments, primes and/or major sub-contractors, as well as providing strategic business advisory services on a global basis, including through C&I Projects offices in Canada and India.
For many years he was a member of the Department of Defence Exporters Council.
